Sensory Equipment

Brighter Futures’ funding of £9,000 was used to purchase two pieces of highly specialised sensory equipment.

The Children’s Unit now has a fantastic sensory voyager (shown opposite with play specialist Claire Parks) with a bubble column, fibre optic lights and a light projector. Children also have play with an amazing sensory train boasting a mirrorball and infinity tunnel.

The new equipment can be used by any child in the unit, but it’s of greatest benefit to children who have restricted mobility or are restricted to their beds.

Our Children’s ward has recently used Brighter Futures to help raise money for their new play area.

The appeal is almost finished and we should soon be able to start improving the soft outdoor play area.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the Children’s ward over the last year. With the help of Brighter Futures and the local community we have been able to supply new toys, new reading materials and treats for the nurses on those busy days.

Thank you to Morrisons Haydon Wick. At Christmas all the staff came together to purchase teddies for sick children. These went down so well & made the stay within the hospital at the festive time a lot easier.

The students of NCS supported the Children’s ward last summer by holding lots of different activities. This included a tombola here at the hospital to talk about what we do!

If you or your company would like to support the Children’s ward this year please give the team a call and they will help supply all the fundraising information & materials to get you going. Click here to get in touch.
