Sepsis Nurse Pilot

A grant of £38,000 from Brighter Futures paid for the 12 month pilot of a “Sepsis Nurse” – a specialist focusing on early detection of Sepsis and supporting the treatment of patients with Sepsis.

Nic Lythell (pictured opposite) helps patients and staff identify the devastating condition that is Sepsis – a common and potentially life-threatening condition triggered by an infection.

The pilot was an enormous success with an estimated extra 83 lives saves and was part of a range of initiatives established by the Trust’s “Sepsis Working Group”. The Group has now become a driving force for improvements in Sepsis Care right across the region and the Sepsis Nurse role has been adopted by the Trust.
