Brighter Futures is the charity for Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which includes Great Western Hospital and community health sites in Swindon. With your help we can fund that extra special level of care in order to make a real difference to patients, to their families and to our staff.
“After I came out of hospital having had heart surgery I wondered how to say thank you to those Doctors and Nurses that looked after me so well. When I got home there was a letter from my holiday company saying that the holiday I had booked for my birthday had been cancelled but the good news was I got 100% of my money back. So here we are at the hospital handing over a cheque for £1,000, my way of saying thank you to them for saving my life.”
“Blessed with free time in my week and previous biomedical, charity and support experience, I have been volunteering at GWH since 2017. I am a Cancer Buddy supporting cancer patients and I help the Brighter Futures team at their events, in their office and at their Donation Hub a couple of mornings per week.
It is fulfilling to be able support a great cause and make a difference to staff and patients in such a rewarding way. I also appreciate the routine and camaraderie and that no two shifts are ever the same. I like this variation and the fact I feel appreciated in my roles.”
