Special Care Baby Incubator Appeal

At Great Western Hospital approximately 450 babies each year need additional support in the first few days and weeks of their life. These include babies, who can weigh less than a bag of sugar and fit in the palm of your hand. They are either born prematurely, have difficulty being delivered or have additional concerns about their well-being following birth and need everything that modern technology can offer. Our Special Care Baby Unit has special care, high dependency and intensive care cots that cater for different levels of need.

We are delighted to share the amazing news that together with the team at New Life we have hit target on the Special Care Baby Incubator Appeal and raised enough to purchase nine state-of-the-art Drager Babyleo neonatal incubators

A huge thank you to all of New Life’s supporters, to Dr Thomas Cranston Wilson Charitable Trust, Malmesbury League of Friends, Greenham Trust, Englefield Charitable Trust, TE Connectivity, South Cerney Golf Course, Marlborough Golf Club, Nationwide, Brethren of Methuen Lodge 8692, Nomad Tribe Motorcycle Association, Friends of Savernake Hospital and Community, Imagination-Childcare, Kelly Grice, Imogen Raven, members of Swindon Jamiah Masjid and the Thamesdown Islamic Association and the many other hundreds of people who have donated. You’ve been incredible!

The new incubators will respond to the changing and complex demands of our little patients from delivery to discharge, creating a seamless healing micro environment.
