Sing Out for a Brighter Future, now in its fifth year, brought together 27 choirs from across the region in a celebration of music, community, and fundraising.
The two-day event supports Cancer Services at the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and this year raised a record total of £3,517.06.
Since the festival began in 2021, the event’s organiser Sarah Summers, has raised more than £13,500 for Brighter Futures.
Sarah Summers, who founded the festival with the support of volunteers, said:
“When I started Sing Out for a Brighter Future, my aim was to bring local choirs together while supporting an important local cause.
Seeing the festival grow year after year, and watching so many choirs support one another, has been incredibly rewarding.
I’m grateful to every choir, volunteer and audience member who has helped make the festival such a success.
Raising a record £3,517.06 this year is a wonderful achievement and shows just what can be accomplished when our local community comes together.”
The festival began as a one-day event with 20 choirs and has since expanded to a full weekend of performances. Each choir brings its own distinct style, contributing to an atmosphere of encouragement and celebration that organisers say is central to the event.
